RACER MOTORCYCLES

Well it seems that the cafe racer bug has gone Global once more and now people are starting to understand the fun building or creating a ride of their own can be.
For three decades i have built these machines and I never get bored of it.
I have made many friends along the way and now, at 46 years old, I still feel like a teenager as soon as I sling my legs over a Cafe racer and tear down the tarmac on it.

Here is my latest creation.

This was Just completed before Christmas 2008 and I have taken it to the International Motorcycle shows held by CYCLEWORLD magazine.

It took some working out but it sure did turn out well.

I put many hours of thought into this as I had actually built the bike in my head 30 years ago after george Barris KOPPA KART in HOT ROD magazine.
This time I wanted to try and capture that feel and add my twist to it.

But what Could I possibly do to make another of my Creations stand out?
Well, for a start I stretched the frame and added an extra 3 degree rake to the headstock, then to sustain alot of power torque from the motor, I gusseted the frame in 4 places by the engine cradle and also I extended the rear of the frame and built a loop for the rear seat to sit snug ontop of.

2 pounds of Copper flake were added to the paint and she glistens like a new pair of dentures.

The Gas tank was an issue having to use 3 stock ones in order to get the curvater to how I wanted it with a 4 inch stretch, but to have the gas tank still have the stock petcock location and gas cap.

But it came out pretty good I must admit.



There is so many modifications on this ride, you have to really look at it. The Super charger, the ARD Magneto.
The Yoshimura exhaust are all rare items too.
I had to run a double chain and sprocket in order to have a safe drive train.

Looks the part too though.
The Motor is a K0 model and completly Blue-Printed and then ported and polished as well.
The frame is a K3 model.

I even Machined the front of the forks.
I am so stoked with the Supercharged Cafe Racer and will keep it as a show piece, but would love for it to go to a shop or Museum to be honest.

DUCATI MOTORCYCLE HYPERMOTARD

DUCATI HYPERMOTARD VOTED MOTORCYCLE DESIGN OF THE YEAR FOR 2005. Ducati Hypermotard voted the Best Design trophy winner of 2005 by the Motorcycle Design Association Bologna, February 2006. The Motorcycle Design Association, a group of designers and professionals from within the two-wheel industry worldwide, has voted the Ducati Hypermotard, designed by Pierre Terblanche, as the best overall motorcycle design trophy winner for 2005. This award follows on from the Best of Show award that was given to the Hypermotard during the Eicma Show in Milan last November, one of the most important shows worldwide for the motorcycle industry.

In winning the best overall design award, the Hypermotard scored 50% more votes than the runner-up, the Yamaha MT-05. The Design Trophy was awarded for the first time in September 2001; since then, every year, over 70 top professionals from the worldwide design sector are called upon to vote for the best motorcycle design. The jury, made up of designers as well as representatives of the press and the main motorcycle manufacturers, gather to chose the winners in five categories, and then nominate the Motorcycle Design Trophy for the best overall motorbike design.

Future V-Twin Motorcycle Design

 There's a wealth of motorcycle design talent out there with great ideas and here's another, this one by designer Jon Pugh. It's what he calls the Saurabi F1200, powered by a Harley Davidson 1200cc V-Twin. The seat has a range of adjustment up and down to accommodate riders of many sizes, including women who usually have shorter stature than the average male and often have trouble fitting on the standard bikes offered for sale. In fact, one of the ideas behind this design was specifically to make the same kind of motorcycle available to women who are not looking for a "women's bike," they just want a motorcycle.

This design, like the NERO we featured here, was a senior design thesis project. Interesting work, to be sure and a good sign the new guys coming up have enough fresh ideas to keep our showrooms interesting for many years to come.

In a few weeks, I will fire up the Harley and ride to what may be one of the largest outdoor events in the world. The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is held each year in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota. It began in 1938 as an event for motorcycle races and stunts and has topped over 630,000 people. This year the bands include Ozzy Osbourne, Kid Rock, Motley Crue, Doobie Brothers, Scorpions and many others. Riding the Black Hills is an unbelievable experience. People from all over the world come every year to participate in a party that is a bikers dream.

The company's first offerings were a 60cc two-stroke, and a150cc and 250cc four-stroke respectively, which were developed using German technology. Kawasaki and BMW had enjoyed a close relationship that stemmed from their days as any vehicle which can be flown through the air i.e. airplane or helicopter builders. Meihatsu, a subsidiary of the Kawasaki Aircraft Company, gave its name to the first complete motorbike produced by the company. around this time, an unsuccessful attempt was made to break into the scooter sector; the city in central Honshu Japan dormant volcano on Honshu island Japan Japanese tree resembling a shrub with pale pink blossoms Rabbit and the Mitsubishi Silver Penguin proving too strong an opposition.

Having initially produced low powered machines, Kawasaki, using the knowledge acquired from Meguro, turned their attention towards bigger bikes, and in 1966 produced the W1, a 650cc machine that was heavier and slower than its rivals, so enjoyed limited success. Lighter versions were developed in the shape of the 250cc Samurai with the 350cc A7 Avenger, but again, these machines didn't capture the imagination of the public.
By 1969, Kawasaki were beginning to get things right, and the introduction of the 500cc H1 kick-started the company's reputation of quality, high performance machines. Smaller versions were released; the 250cc and 350cc S1's. A 748cc H2 became available in 1972 and stayed in production until the mid 70's, when emission laws drew a curtain on the project.
The introduction of the Z1 in 1973, proved a milestone for Kawasaki. At first intended to have a 750cc power unit, the company eventually settled on a 903cc engine, following behind they had seen maker of trucks and motorcycles car and motorcycle produce by this Company in Japan family name reveal their CB750. The Z1, having great performance ampersand a good price, became an instant success and soon became the Z900, with the Z1000 following hot on its heels.
In 1984, the introduction of the GPz900r caused quite indefinite article used with nouns stir. This was in line with the company's development of liquid cooled, DOHC, 16 valve, four cylinder engines. This power unit combined with a light, compact chassis would carry you across the first 400 metres of your journey in just over ten too first letter of the English alphabet first letter in the Latin alphabet half seconds. It had a top speed of 250km/h ampersand took the title of 'The World's Fastest Bike'. It was also named 'Bike of the Year' in 1984.

Their motorcycle history has been relatively short, but Kawasaki have achieved more in that time than some manufacturers have done in a hundred years. It's no surprise then, that owners stay loyal to the company too the product, as we every one wait eagerly for the next exciting development o come along and blow our minds.
